Announcing Auditions for

The Wizard of Oz!

The ROYAL Theatre Company is excited to announce that we will hold auditions on July 7 & 8, 2025 for The Wizard of Oz!

About the Show:

When a tornado rips through Kansas, Dorothy and her dog, Toto, are whisked away in their house to the magical land of Oz. They follow the Yellow Brick Road toward the Emerald City to meet the Wizard, and en route they meet a Scarecrow  that needs a brain, a Tin Man missing a heart, and a Cowardly Lion who wants courage. The wizard asks the group to bring him the broom of the Wicked Witch of the West  to earn his help.

Audition Information/Requirements:

Audition Dates/Times: Select one time slot on Monday, July 7 OR Tuesday, July 8 between 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Deadline to Sign Up: Submit your audition sign up by 5:00 PM on Thursday, July 3

Audition Location: Mason Municipal Center, 6000 Mason-Montgomery Road, Mason, OH 45040

Audition Requirements:

• You must be at least 6 years old to audition. If you have questions, contact production@royaltheatrecompany.com
• You must complete the online audition form and submit your headshot (does not need to be a professional photo) with your online audition form. No walk-ins will be accepted.
• Please come prepared and memorized with the following: 

  1. A 60-90 second monologue that captures your acting abilities (energy, expression, volume, etc.)

  2. 16-20 bars/measures of a song that features your vocal range well

  . 

Audition Process:

• Arrive 15 minutes prior to your audition time slot and come directly to the registration desk.
• Please note that although audition time slots are listed in 20-minute increments, performers will be called in to audition one-at-a-time during your chosen time window. Therefore, we recommend that you bring a quiet activity for while you wait.
• You are able to leave immediately after your audition is complete. 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Do NOT come to your in-person audition if you feel sick. Please call Karen Kilgore at 513.295.4541 if that should happen.

If you have a conflict with the audition schedule, you may submit a video audition. You will need to complete the online registration form (including a headshot) by following this link to audition sign-ups (select “Video Audition”) and send your video to production@ROYALTheatreCompany.com by 5:00 PM on Tuesday, July 8 at the latest. Videos received after this deadline will NOT be considered.

Cast List will be posted on July 14th by 5:00 PM

If cast in the show, You MUST accept/decline your role by Thursday, July 17 at 5:00 PM. To accept/decline, email YOUR NAME and “ACCEPT” or “DECLINE” in your SUBJECT LINE to production@ROYALTheatreCompany.com.

Rehearsals:

• If cast in this show, performers must be able to attend rehearsals on Tuesdays from 6-9 PM, Thursdays from 6-9 PM, and Sundays from 1-5 PM. Please note: We may occasionally need to extend the duration of a rehearsal, but this will be communicated in advance. Also, not all actors will be called for every rehearsal. We will provide a schedule detailing who needs to attend each rehearsal.
• Rehearsals will be held at ROYAL Theatre Company’s studio (308 W. Main St., Mason, OH)
• First Rehearsal: Tuesday, July 22 from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM at ROYAL Theatre Company (308 W. Main St., Mason, OH 45040)
• Mandatory Informational Meeting for Parents/Guardians/Actors: Sunday, July 20 at 1:30pm. Location: Mason Municipal Center, 6000 Mason-Montgomery Road, Mason, OH 45040
• The entire cast rehearses at Mason High School October 6-9 from 4:30 PM – 10:00 PM each night. This is known as Tech Week and is mandatory for all cast, unless there is an emergency or mandatory school event for a grade.

Parent Volunteer Requirements: A parent/guardian of each cast member must:

• Volunteer for 8 pre-show hours
• Volunteer for 3 volunteer time slots during the show/tech week (various jobs available)
• Volunteer with set move-in (Sun., Oct. 5) AND set strike (Sun., Oct. 12 after the show)

Show Dates:  October 10-12, 2025

Show Location: Mason High School (6100 Mason Montgomoery Road, Mason, OH)

Participation Fee: $300 per performer to be paid by July 20th. More details will be provided to those cast in the show.
